NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman discussed preparations for the Artemis III mission and future plans for exploring space, including landing on the moon.
Administrator Isaacman said, “This is the Artemis generation that can grow up, they can be astronauts, they can go to the Moon base, they don’t want to go to the Moon, they can work in mission control.”
“You’re gonna see SLS launch, you’re gonna see Starship launch, you’re gonna see Blue Origin’s New Glenn launch,” the NASA administrator continued. “The three most powerful rockets in the world, they’re gonna converge for what will probably be a 10- to 14-day-long mission, test out the Orion spacecraft with our landers, feel really good for 2028 when we send our astronauts back to the Moon.”
“2028 is our target year,” Mr. Isaacman added. “We intend to build the Moon base on the lunar South Pole… We have the resources to return to the Moon, to build a Moon base, to get underway on nuclear power so we can take that next giant leap to Mars and ensure we never give up our capabilities again.”
